DonateOakland.org is an outgrowth of an informal alliance between concerned community members and representatives from several local non-profits.  Initially, we simply lobbied the Oakland city council to institute regulations governing unattended collection bins.  Over time, we also recognized that we had a responsibility to help maximize recycling and reuse of goods that might otherwise enter the waste stream - while still supporting our local non-profit agencies.  This website is designed to help you do just that.
