DonateOakland.org's ongoing mission is to help you identify local non-profits that you can support through your donations of tangible goods including clothing, books and household goods.
One of those non-profits, Wardrobe for Opportunity, preps low-income residents for job interviews with coaching and appropriate apparel. Another, the East Bay Children's Book Project has given away 1.8 million books to youngsters who would otherwise lack a home library. The rest resell your donations to fund everything from job-training, to medical research, to meals for the homeless, to special programs for the Oakland Museum. In the process, they simultaneously provide a source of low-cost merchandise to Oakland residents on a limited budget.
